‘SUPER’ chance to get involved
WITH 10 weeks to go to the famous Armoy Road Races Bayview Hotel Race of Legends 2019, the Armoy Motorcycle Road Racing Club is calling for sponsors for several key races.
The Club is delighted with many of the sponsors continuing their support however circumstances change for some and the Club is calling for new sponsors and for companies to get involved with what has become one of the best national road races in Ireland.
Bill Kennedy MBE and Clerk of the Course explains; “Over the last 10 years we have been honoured to see so many local companies stick with us, particularly the likes of the Bayview Hotel, Trevor Kane, our title sponsor and many others that continue to sponsor, year in, year out.
“During that time, we’ve discovered there is a natural ebb and flow when it comes to sponsors, but I have to say with each and every one of them if they have sponsored a race and for whatever reason they can’t for on this occasion then we know they’ll be involved in some way or other at some stage.
“For 2019 we’ve three fabulous races up for sponsorship. The Supersport 600 on the Friday night, the Supersport 600 and the Open Superbike race, both on the Saturday. You will remember, last year, the race on the Friday night was one of the closest we’ve ever had with Paul Jordan crossing the line ahead of Adam McLean by half a wheel – it was one of most thrilling races at Armoy.
“We know that our races are extremely well supported by the racers, fans and the wider road racing community. We’ve a great package for anyone interested; including VIP tickets in the corporate hospitality marquee and a bespoke grandstand, which is one of the best ways to enjoy the Saturday racing.
“This is a great opportunity for someone not just to support road racing but ensure their brand is featured as part of the Armoy Road Races. Our Facebook has over 7,500 followers and our Twitter page has over 12,000 followers and our website is worldwide audience. This year as already announced by the BBC, they plan on televising all the road races in 2019, and the club is in negotiations with Greenlight for further footage to appear on ITV 4 and Eurosport. Plans are well advanced and we are just looking to tie down these last three races.
“We have received some funding from Tourism Northern Ireland for 2019 but given past years it is regrettably a very small percentage to what we’ve received previously, as their monies seem to need to go that bit farther across many events. We’ve been very fortunate to have funding from Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council again, but we still need to tie down sponsorship of these races.
“Last year saw Saturday’s racing cancelled due to the horrendous rain and with the rising operational costs from insurance to infrastructure, from Raynet to first aid, we will be needing every penny this year!
“This is our eleventh year and we are hoping to have that something extra special which will be announced at the launch next month (June). It takes a lot of working parts and people to make this happen as well as money. So, I’m making this public call and we would only be too delighted if we could get three more sponsors for those races – do please get in contact by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
“Lastly, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish McAdoo Racing’s Adam McLean a speedy recovery. I saw Adam recently when he was at the Bayview Hotel and he is very good young rider with great potential who has come a very long way from his first race at Armoy and we look forward, all things being well, to him racing at Armoy.”
This year, Bike Week runs from Saturday 20th July until Saturday 27th July with the races taking place on Friday 26th July and Saturday 27th July 2019 culminating in the Bayview Hotel ‘Race of Legends’. The Armoy Road Races are part funded by Tourism Northern Ireland and the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.
