COLLIER ENTHUSED WITH BRANDS HATCH PROGRESS ABOARD CPD KAWASAKI

After a difficult start to the season for Joe Collier and the all-new CPD Kawasaki squad, light finally started to appear at the end of the National 1000cc Superstock tunnel – during last weekend’s round four action at Brands Hatch.

Having qualified eighth, which resulted in a third row grid spot, Joe was able to hold station on the CPD Kawasaki ZX-10RR, to claim his best result of the season to date – in the opening race of three on the Brands Hatch GP Circuit.

That eighth placed finished was set to be bettered in the second part of Saturday’s endurance encounter, but an unfortunate slip off whilst holding seventh, prematurely ended Joe’s day at the Kent venue.

Sunday offered up a third row grid position once again. In damp and tricky conditions the Coalville electrician, was bright enough to stay out of danger, and score a solid eleventh placed finish to end his weekend with renewed enthusiasm.

Speaking afterwards, Collier explained: “This weekend we certainly made a huge step forward as a team. We are almost in that business end battle now; it’s just a shame I had a silly tip-off, out of seventh in part two of Saturday’s race action.”

Recounting Sunday’s action, he concluded: “On Sunday in fairness, the CPD Kawasaki felt really good. I was just lacking in the confidence department to push on in the wet, after crashing out the day before. Full credit to the whole team, who worked tirelessly at Brands. We’re getting there, slowly but surely. We can certainly look ahead to Knockhill now with some optimism.”

The next round of the National 1000cc Superstock Championship takes places at Knockhill in Scotland on the weekend of June 28/29/30th 2019.
